Crow on a Tree Stump

Not the first thing I made in Blender, but the first thing worth sharing! This piece was an experiment in a couple of things; firstly, seeing how far I could go with handpainted textures–as learning that this was something Blender let you do was a big draw for me–and secondly, studying rigging by making something I hadn’t tried before and something I rarely saw around: a bird.

That second part ended pretty completely in failure. Wings were too complicated, especially for someone who could barely get a human working adequately at the time. It was magnificent for learning though, so I’m glad I tried it. As far as painting went on the other hand, I’m pleased with the results!
